Manhasset, NY – “Today the people of Nassau County learned what’s really at stake in this fall’s election:  the return of the commuter tax.

And local commuters should make no mistake – a vote for Craig Johnson is a vote to bring back the commuter tax.

Speaker Silver today made clear that he would bring back this onerous tax.  He was immediately followed by Craig Johnson’s boss, Minority Leader Malcolm Smith, who issued one of the weakest, most transparent ‘non-denial denials’ I’ve ever heard.

The bottom line is this: if Senator Craig Johnson and his Democrat colleagues are successful in this fall’s election, the very first ones to pay the price will be commuters on Long Island.

Since the Senate Majority led the fight to cut this burdensome tax our commuters have saved almost $400 million.  The fact that Craig Johnson and his Democratic leaders in New York City are now talking about bringing it back, is a stunning and stark reminder of just what’s at stake in this election.”
